Steganography is derived from Greek words that mean "hidden writing." It's the art and science of embedding secret messages or data into a file, such as an image, in a way that is not easily detectable. The hidden data can include text, files, or even other images.

Least Significant Bit (LSB) Substitution
This is one of the most common methods used in image steganography. In an image, each pixel is made up of three color components: Red, Green, and Blue (RGB). Each color component is typically stored in 8 bits, with values ranging from 0 to 255.

In LSB substitution, secret data is hidden in the least significant bit of the pixel values. Since this bit represents the smallest part of the value, altering it minimally changes the pixel's color. To the human eye, these changes are almost invisible.

يُشتق مصطلح "إخفاء المعلومات" من كلمتين يونانيتين تعنيان "الكتابة الخفية". وهو فن وعلم تضمين الرسائل أو البيانات السرية في ملف، مثل صورة، بطريقة يصعب اكتشافها. يمكن أن تشمل البيانات المخفية نصوصًا وملفات أو حتى صورًا أخرى.

استبدال البت الأقل أهمية (LSB)

تُعد هذه الطريقة من أكثر الطرق شيوعًا في إخفاء المعلومات في الصور. في الصورة، يتكون كل بكسل من ثلاثة مكونات لونية: الأحمر والأخضر والأزرق (RGB). يُخزَّن كل مكون لوني عادةً في 8 بتات، تتراوح قيمها بين 0 و255.

في استبدال البت الأقل أهمية، تُخبأ البيانات السرية في البت الأقل أهمية من قيم البكسل. ولأن هذا البت يُمثل أصغر جزء من القيمة، فإن تغييره يُغيّر لون البكسل بشكل طفيف. تكاد هذه التغييرات تكون غير مرئية للعين البشرية.
