About this video
In this video you will learn how to round a number to 3 significant figures and then write it in standard form.
Example Write 432856 to 3 significant figures in standard form. First of all round the number to 3 significant figures. This mean you round it 3 numbers from the start of the number. This will give 433,000. Now the number can be written in standard form. Write 4.33 for the first number as it’s between 1 and 10. 4.33 then has to be multiplied by 10 fives times to give 433,000. So the final answer is 4.33x10^5.
