About this video

Marcedes Lewis signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears and will return to the NFL for his 19th season.

That will set at a record for most seasons for a tight end, passing Jason Witten and Tony Gonzalez.

It also makes the 40-year-old Lewis the second oldest player in the league, behind Aaron Rodgers, who was his quarterback for five seasons at Green Bay.

Lewis played all 17 games for the Bears last season, starting 4 and scoring once. He was drafted in the first round by the Jacksonville Jaguars and amassed more than 4,500 yards there in 12 seasons.

For any NFL career to last nearly two decades is impressive, but especially at the tight end position, which requires blocking and running routes across the middle. For perspective, Darren Waller retired a few days prior at the age of 31.

Lewis was born to a single mother when she was just 15, managed to avoid the dangers in Long Beach, California and became the first person in his family to graduate college, from UCLA.

He is married to former volley ball player Torrie Brown.
