Manikarnika grows up in Bithoor under the care of her father Moropanth and Peshwa Bajirao II, who raises her with great affection. Her fearless spirit impresses Dixit Ji of Jhansi, who suggests her marriage to Maharaja Gangadhar Rao. After the wedding, she is given the name Rani Laxmibai, which creates concern for Sadashiv Rao due to his personal ambitions.
Laxmibai later becomes a mother, but unforeseen difficulties impact her family, and the king’s health begins to decline. Before his passing, the king and Laxmibai adopt a child named Anand Rao, whom she lovingly calls Damodar Rao. After the king’s death, Laxmibai takes responsibility for Jhansi when outside powers attempt to take control of the kingdom.
She connects closely with her people and plans carefully to protect her land, supported by loyal companions like Jhalkaribai. As uprisings spread to Jhansi, she focuses on safeguarding civilians and prepares to defend the region with a trained group, including many women.
When betrayal weakens the fort, Jhalkaribai bravely helps Laxmibai and the young heir reach safety. Laxmibai then joins her allies, continues her efforts with determination, and is remembered for her remarkable courage and leadership.
