A senior citizen, <br />Who was bed ridden, <br />In the course of conversation <br />Calmly mentioned: <br /> <br />That these modern inventions <br />Are quite a boon. <br />Since I can not move, <br />I just order my groceries <br />And ask for home delivery. <br /> <br />The shopkeepers are eager to oblige <br />Without an extra charge. <br />When I had a fall, <br />I just called my doctor who makes home calls. <br /> <br />I surf the net <br />And have friends I haven’t met. <br />Age is no bar, <br />We chat for hours. <br /> <br />Since I can’t travel, <br />I see the world on Discovery Channel. <br />When I want to eat, <br />I just wheel myself to heat <br />The food my maid leaves <br />In the microwave. <br /> <br />When I want to switch off and relax, <br />I turn on the World Space. <br />I think I feel less lonely then my parents <br />When they were my age. <br /> <br />I walked back pondering, <br />He had the wisdom to count his blessings. <br />And had a shift in perception, <br />About these modern inventions.<br /><br />Mamta Agarwal<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-shift-in-perception/
