Malaysia's ex-military chief charged in sweeping graft probe, pleads not guilty

Malaysia's former armed forces chief, Mohammad Nizam Jaffa, has been charged on Friday (Jan 23) with abuse of power, graft, and criminal breach of trust in a high-profile corruption probe into military procurement. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include awarding contracts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and receiving kickbacks amounting to around RM752,000 (US$188,000) while chairing the military welfare fund.
