Malaysia Passes ASEAN Chair to the Philippines at Summit 🚀

Malaysia on Tuesday (October 28) handed over chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to the Philippines as it marked the end of the annual three-day summit that saw leaders of the regional bloc gather in Kuala Lumpur.
Speaking to fellow ASEAN leaders, president of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Junior highlighted the association's 20-year vision and welcomed the group's 11th member, Timor-Leste.
The three-day summit, which began on Sunday (October 26), brought together leaders from the ASEAN region and dialogue partners including the United States, China, Japan and South Korea.
The bloc is seen by some analysts as a potential buffer against tariffs imposed by the United States, though its provisions are considered weaker than some other regional trade deals due to competing interests among its members.
