A flag-raising ceremony is being held at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on October 1 to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The Chinese national flag is scheduled to rise along with the first ray of sunshine. It is a short ceremony but people often arrive the night before to get a good spot for the spectacular event.
