About this video

In this talk, Mario Flory (Jagiellonian University) studies circuit and state complexity in the universal setting of (1+1)-dimensional conformal field theory and unitary transformations generated by the stress-energy tensor. He provides a unified view of assigning a cost to circuits based on the Fubini-Study metric, iteratively solves the emerging integro-differential equation for sample optimal circuits and discusses the sectional curvature of the underlying geometry. He also discusses the relation of his work to Euler-Arnold type equations such as the Korteweg-de Vries and Hunter-Saxton equations. The Virtual Seminar Series “GQFI-Warsaw String Theory” (GQFI-WST) is a joint initiative between the strings/holography groups at the Albert Einstein Institute (AEI) in Potsdam and the University Warsaw. The calendar for upcoming GQFI-WST seminars can be found here: https://gqfi.aei.mpg.de/node/3. This talk is primarily based on arXiv:2007.11555 [https://arxiv.org/abs/2007.11555] and arXiv:2005.02415 [https://arxiv.org/abs/2005.02415]. This talk was recorded on September 09, 2020 at the Albert Einstein Institute in Potsdam-Golm.
