What is law?
Before describing legal definition of law firstly we will discuss general sense of Law
Different societies gain different meaning of law
When we listen word law what the first thinking comes into our mind
“Some types of rules and regulations”
So we can say that rules and regulations set by competent authority is called law
Legal definition
Difficult to give comprehensive and perfect definition of law
Different jurists give different definition
Austin says that
Law is the aggregate of rules set by man as politically superior, or sovereign, to a man politically inferior
Blackstone writes
Law in its more general and comprehensive sense signifies rules of action and is applied indiscriminately to all kinds of actions whether animate or inanimate, rational or irrational
General definition
Law is a body of principles, imposed by a competent authority, recognized and enforced by courts, to regulate individuals, and also for the purpose of administration of justice
