Largest Amphetamine Factory Discovered in Poland

Police say it's the biggest amphetamine factory ever discovered in Poland.<br/> <br />Police say they seized nearly 20 kilograms of high quality amphetamine with a street value of around 150,000 euros or more than 200,000 dollars.<br/> <br />Two men were arrested.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Polish) WARSAW POLICE PRESS OFFICER, ROBERT OPAS, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Policemen from the anti-narcotics and operational units entered a property near Warsaw and found a professional laboratory used for amphetamine production."<br/> <br />While other narcotics like cocaine tend to be imported, amphetamine is produced locally in Poland both for domestic consumption, and export.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Polish) WARSAW POLICE PRESS OFFICER, ROBERT OPAS, SAYING:<br/> <br />"This is probably the biggest drugs factory in Poland."<br/> <br />Police officials say amphetamines are now seen as a Polish "national product" and that homegrown chemists have become quote "specialists" in its production.
