Lamb and chickpea curry done the authentic Indian way takes about 90 minutes to make but this lamb and chickpea balti cuts that time down to about 15 minutes. Pre-cooked meat and base sauce are used to speed up the cooking process. This also adds that authentic chicken and chickpea curry flavour and texture we have come to expect at the best balti houses and curry houses.

1/2 onion - finely chopped
1 teaspoon Bassar curry masala or chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon mixed powder or curry powder
1 tomato - diced
150ml base curry sauce
2 tablespoons tomato puree
200g cooked tandoori lamb or any cooked lamb
200g chickpeas
1/2 teaspoon methi leaves
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
salt to taste
Juice of one lemon
Chopped coriander to garnish
