About this video
(4K, 2026) KLM Airbus A321neo (PH-AXL) takeoff on a wet winter morning from the Kaagbaan Runway 24 at Amsterdam Schiphol, operating flight KL1199 to Oslo Gardermoen, Norway, in late January 2026. Skip to the flight and pushback at timestamp 01:20, or the takeoff at timestamp 06:00. Skipping forward through my backlog to bring you this video from my first trip of 2026 aboard KLM's newest aircraft type, recorded just last weekend! This aircraft, PH-AXL, named "Admiraalsvlinder/Red Admiral" is only around two months old as of now. This flight also marks only my third time on an A321neo, and my first time sitting behind the wing on one, where you can immediately notice the unique feature of the A321 type of aircraft - its the only Airbus aircraft type that features double-slotted flaps on the wings. My journey started at the Hilton Amsterdam Schiphol Airport hotel, where I had stayed overnight having around from Cork the previous evening. Directly connected to the terminal at Schiphol Plaza via a long interior walkway. It was a pretty dark morning, and the weather was very overcast for the entire flight. We climbed into the cloud shortly after rotation, and did not see anything again until an equally overcast final approach over the snow in Oslo! A very wet takeoff, but the weather gave some great condensation bursts over the wing! Landing the landing in the snow at Oslo at https://youtu.be/L-yKlB-pBVE
