About this video

Kia Forte Problems: Reliability And Common Issues Explained. In this video tutorial I will show you how to fix Kia Forte problems.

Here is a detailed breakdown:
If you are thinking of buying a Kia Forte, avoid the 2017, 2015, 2014, 2012, and 2010 car models as they are not reliable and are likely to need costly repairs. Instead, consider the 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2013, and 2011 models as they are more reliable and likely to serve you for a longer duration. At all costs, do not buy the 2017 model, it had the highest entry of complaints.

Common Issues:
Malfunctioning transmission
Kia Forte’s 2011-year model may start exhibiting transmission problems at the 57,000-mile range. In other cars, the problems may not begin until the 60,000-mile range. The symptoms of this problem may range from mild to extreme but often begin with the check engine light. Additional symptoms are the transmission fluid having debris, difficulties shifting gear, inability to shift gear, rough idling, and abnormal scraping sounds. In severe cases, owners have reported being forced to have their cars towed.
The cause of a malfunctioning transmission in Kia Forte is not known. However, some sources claim that it is caused by worn or defective transmission parts, a common issue in this model. Nonetheless, if you experience these issues, it is advisable to have a professional expert replace your transmission.

Knocking
Knocking in Kia Forte is a result of an uneven fuel burn, which causes a noise mimicking a knock in the engine. This is an issue that tends to arise at the 80,000-mile range. The knocking noise will be accompanied by a check engine light. If you notice these issues, have your car diagnosed for other smaller issues, such as defective fuel injection that does not need engine replacement. However, if the issue is severe, have the engine replaced by an expert mechanic.

A Software glitch that causes the speakers not to function
This is a common complaint by the 2018, 2011-2016 Kia Forte owners. The problem is characterized by speakers producing no sound, preventing owners from using navigation features, CD players, and radio. This is a common issue at the 73,000-mile range. If you have these issues, try performing a hard reset using the following steps:
• Open your car hood and go to the battery.
• Look for the negative terminal; it has a negative sign (use your manual for guidance).
• Disconnect the terminal.
• Wait for 15 minutes and then reconnect it.
• Start your car and check if the issue is fixed.

If not, have a mechanic diagnose your speaker system and fix the problem.
