Kerala Govt Challenges SIR Roll Revision in Supreme Court Amid Local Body Polls | India Today News

The Kerala government and multiple political parties have approached the Supreme Court to challenge the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, scheduled from November 4 to December 4. The challenge argues that the SIR process clashes with the ongoing local body elections in the state, creating a potential administrative impasse. The government's petition states that 'this kind of process should not be allowed to happen currently because the elections to the local bodies in Kerala are ongoing'. The Indian National League (INL) petition highlighted the recent suicide of a Booth Level Officer (BLO), allegedly due to the combined work pressure of the election and the SIR process. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the matter on Friday.
