When Biology Meets Data Science—An Introduction to Neuroevolution: Tuning the architecture and hyper-parameters of neural networks is no easy feat, requiring near brute force search or optimisation over complex, non-convex spaces. Despite this, evolution managed to do a decent job in designing its own neural networks (our brains), so who is to say we can't use the same approach?
