About this video

Our research group investigates the theoretical structure of security for cyber physical systems and adapts traditional attack graph models to capture their attack surfaces. With mathematical and analytical knowledge, we can make informed risk management decisions about the security of these vital systems. Understanding the system’s mission and functions in context is essential for effectively managing cyber risk.

I’ve used this perspective to develop my approach to teaching the System Security and Cryptography class. Students master foundational concepts essential to protecting information systems and networks. They gain proficiency with tools from the cyber security service toolbox, and understand the function and role of each. The class exposes cyber security issues, concepts, techniques and solutions in a variety of system domains . Along the way, students learn about the applications and inner-workings of cryptography while developing and implementing security solutions.
