I feel like everyone can see <br />The lies a weight on my small shoulders <br />Who was I to think they wouldn't be able to guess? <br />How could I dare to believe that everything would be fine <br />With a small little white lie? <br />Then, when those fibs build up <br />And they become about everything, <br />No matter how small or big <br />The power of control and to be superior builds like a mountain <br />It's peak getting higher and higher <br />With every fib <br />Now, with everyone's eyes on me <br />I feel insecure <br />Too visible to the human eye <br />I can't breath <br />I can't speak <br />That little white lie turned into a thousand black piercings <br />Evil and paining <br />I needed to feel on top of the world <br />And now, I am in the cold darkness, <br />Curled into a tight ball in the corner <br />Screaming for them to just leave me alone <br />Regret and shame trailing across every length of my face <br />They don't leave, they stare me down <br />A single tear sheds <br />As I continue to live, <br />With those eyes staring upon me <br />Seeing my every secret and every lie <br />For what they really are.<br /><br />Jessica Robert<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/for-what-they-really-are/
