Is Moses' Story A Rip Off of Sargon

The birth of Moses, as recounted out in biblical texts, bears striking similarities to the well-known tale of Sargon of Akkad. Both figures, it seems, were fated to a precarious start in life as illegitimate offspring; Sargon was cast into the river in a reed basket, while Moses was consigned to a basket of bulrushes and set adrift in the Nile to avoid Pharaoh's decree to slay all male Hebrew infants. However, both were providentially rescued and raised by members of royalty, with Sargon being taken under the wing of Akkadian priestesses and Moses being adopted by Pharaoh's daughter. This intriguing convergence of events suggests that the narrative of Moses may have drawn upon the timeless story of Sargon.
