About this video

2 sets per workout might sound ridiculous, but people need to stop talking about training volume as if it's just the total number of sets you do. Your muscles don't count sets, they just experience tension. And that tension only gets high enough to drive significant growth on the difficult reps as you start approaching failure, and it increases the closer to failure you get. So a set is not a set. If someone is training very hard at a legit 0-1 reps shy of failure, they could be subjecting the muscle to more total tension with 2 sets than someone doing 6 sets with 3-4 reps in the tank. Once you understand that volume is really about the overall tension generated rather than just how many times you did some reps, then took a rest, and then did some more, this won’t seem crazy at all. Now I'm not saying you have to do 2 sets per workout or 4 sets per week, but if those sets are fully dialed in it can do a lot more than just produce "noticeable" gains. I personally built 95% of my physique off a handful of hard sets weekly, it's the same method I teach inside TrainWise that thousands of guys are using right now, you probably don't need more sets, you just need to make the ones you're doing actually count.
