About this video

Despite looking like a set off a post apocolyptic movie, this location is real. Situated on an old state route is a Rest Stop that is the setting of today's video.

The state route, built in the 1920s, was a crucial highway built in the mountains, long between cities. After decades of travelers using the highways, a Diner was built in the 1950s, in classic fashion with chrome, and bright colors along with neon lights during its operation.

Not too long after, the hotel was built next door, making this rest stop a very attractive location for resting travelers and filling the empty stomachs of those far away from home.

The downfall started firstly with the construction of the nearby US highway, now instead of passing through town, directly in front of the Rest Stop, cars flew by town without an exit to get off.

The decline in travelers caused the Diner to go out of business in 2004, and the hotel shut down, eventually turning into apartments until a fire that permanently closed the location in 2021.

Today, we explore what is left before the buildings are demolished, exploring Old America, in timeless museum quality. If you enjoy the video, please leave a thumbs up, and consider subscribing for more exploring and historic content !
