India and Israel: A secret alliance

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu are known for their so-called ‘bromance’ but ties between the two states weren’t always as friendly.

In 1947, newly independent India - built on anti-colonial solidarity - was one of only 13 countries to vote against the United Nations plan to partition Palestine.

Over the decades, however, a secret alliance began to take shape, forged through shared nationalist ideologies and military cooperation.
