The Ministry of Home Affairs said that in the year 2021, more than 1.6 lakh Indians gave up their citizenship. Whereas, in the year 2020, 85,256 people gave up the citizenship of the country and in the year 2019, 1,44,017 people had given up the Indian citizenship. If we look from a comparative point of view, in comparison to the year 2020, in the year 2021, almost double the number of people left the citizenship of India and took foreign citizenship.
India does not allow dual citizenship and taking citizenship of another country automatically nullifies Indian citizenship. Must watch video for more information .

गृह मंत्रालय ने बताया कि साल 2021 में 1.6 लाख से अधिक भारतीयों ने अपनी नागरिकता छोड़ दी। जबकि, साल 2020 में 85,256 लोगों ने देश की नागरिकता छोड़ी और इसके पहले साल 2019 में 1,44,017 लोगों ने भारतीय नागरिकता छोड़ दी थी। अगर हम तुलनात्मक नजरिए से देखें तो साल 2020 के मुकाबले साल 2021 में लगभग दोगुने लोगों ने भारत की नागरिकता छोड़कर विदेशी नागरिकता ले ली।
