Shubman Gill scored a sublime century while Yashasvi Jaiswal struck 87 runs as India finished Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test 2025 at 310/5 at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Wednesday, July 2. The left-handed Yashasvi Jaiswal then added 66 runs with Shubman Gill before being dismissed by Ben Stokes while being just 13 runs away from a century. Shubman Gill batted through and scored a terrific century, joining an elite list of players to have scored hundreds in first two Tests as captain. He also formed a 47-run partnership with Rishabh Pant (25) and an unbeaten 99-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja (41*). For England, Chris Woakes was the best bowler as he picked up two wickets (2/59) while Brydon Carse (1/49), Ben Stokes (1/58) and Shoaib Bashir (1/65) took one apiece.
