In Full: Starmer: I stand by decision not to join Trump’s attack on Iran

Sir Keir Starmer will update MPs on the Middle East conflict for the first time since the US and Israel began their military action on Iran.

The Prime Minister is to speak in the Commons after giving the US permission to use British military bases for “specific and limited defensive purposes”.

However, Sir Keir’s Government has defended its refusal to join American and Israeli attacks on Iran, with ministers claiming it was “not in the UK’s interests” to do so.

Sir Keir has been criticised by the Tories and Reform UK for not taking part in the military action.

He is also facing pressure from the Left to condemn the attacks on Iran, which killed the country’s Supreme Leader, as a breach of international law.
