Our Love for Christ is ascertained by how much we are willing to sacrifice and suffer for him.
This short video is the story of Stephen in the Bible as recorded in the book of Acts of the Apostles chapter 7: verse 58 to 60.
Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.
Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia—who began to argue with Stephen. (Acts 6:8-9 NIV).
This argument eventually degenerated to a point where they stoned Stephen to death on the accusation of being blasphemy.
However, despite their cruelty to him, Stephen choose to respond to them in absolute forgiveness.
The bible says; "While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he said this, he fell asleep." (Acts 7:59-60 NIV).
What an epitome or embodiment of forgiveness.
This Stephen story in the bible is therefore teaching us:
1. Uncompromised love for God even at the point of death.
2. Unshakable sense of forgiveness no matter how deeply you are hurt by your offenders.
3. The Boldness to carry out the gospel of Christ across the world without fear of persons.
