Solve Systems of Equations Using Elimination 🧮

About this video

In this video lesson we will learn 5 Steps for Solving a System of Linear Equations Using Elimination. We will discover that we add the two equations when the coefficients of a variable are opposites and we subtract the two equations when the coefficients of a variable are the same. We will learn how to use the solution from adding or subtracting two equations to evaluate one of the original equations to find the value of the second variable. We will express our solution as an ordered pair and we will check our solution. We will solve using elimination where we first must multiply one or both of the equations by a value to force the coefficients to be the same or opposites. Student practice is embedded in the lesson with modeled exemplar solutions.
