Create Fillable Forms in Google Docs 📝

Learn how to create fillable forms in Google Docs including form elements like text fields, dropdown list selections, and checkboxes. In this step-by-step tutorial we will create a fillable form in Google Docs from scratch. See how to insert and place a logo on your form, then how to use tables and borders to create fillable text boxes on your Google Doc. You'll see how to insert and set up dropdown list selections and even format the color options. Then you'll learn the two types of checkbox checklists in Google Docs to either tick or select a checklist item, or how to set it up to cross out the list item selected. Finally, we will create a large open text box on the form.

It is important to note that fillable forms in Google Docs are not able to be protected or restricted to filling in forms, which means users may inadvertently edit, modify, or even delete parts of the document. If you need to protect the form, you'll want to convert it to a PDF and add PDF fillable form elements, or create the form in another tool, like Microsoft Word, Google Forms, or Microsoft Forms.

Also, unless you have Google Workspace, you won't be able to save your Google Docs form as a template. However, you can make a copy of the form file each time you want to fill in a new form.
