This is a video showing you how to catch, cook, and eat cicadas. My mom eats bugs so this cicada season was like cherry picking time for her. Usually, these bugs come out of their resting once a year but this year was extra special because two types of cicadas appeared which only happen once every 221 years. In Laos, Cicadas and other types of bugs are commonly eaten so my mom felt at home picking them off the trees, plants, ground. When they first emerge, cicadas have soft shells, but as they mature, they develop their hard, signature shells. One way of cooking them is sautΓ©ing them in some butter, lime leaves, salt, and pepper and now you have a whole snack which I like calling them Lao popcorn. Would you try these cicadas?
