About this video

Lamb holds significant importance during the holidays in Middle Eastern cuisine and culture for several reasons. Firstly, lamb has deep historical and cultural roots in the region. It has been a staple meat for centuries, dating back to ancient times when nomadic tribes relied on sheep for sustenance and livelihood. As a result, lamb has become an integral part of Middle Eastern culinary traditions.

Second lamb is often associated with religious celebrations in the Middle East. For instance, during Eid al-Adha (the Festival of Sacrifice), which commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, Muslims traditionally sacrifice a lamb or other livestock animals. The meat is then shared among family, friends, and the less fortunate as a symbol of generosity and unity.
