Note that if you use iMessage on multiple devices, you’ll need to disable read receipts on each device, as changing the setting on one device will not affect your other devices. I’ll show you how to disable read receipts for iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. To disable iMessage read receipts on iPhone, open your Settings app. Scroll down and select Messages. Scroll down to find the Send Read Receipts option. Then, tap the switch to disable this feature. When the switch turns grey, read receipts are turned off.

To disable iMessage read receipts on iPad, open your Settings app. On the left, scroll down and select Messages. Then, tap the switch labelled Send Read Receipts to disable this feature. When the switch turns grey, read receipts are turned off.

To disable iMessage read receipts on Mac, open the Messages app. In the menu bar at the top, click Messages. Now select Preferences. At the top of the window that appears, click iMessage. At the bottom, uncheck the box labelled Send Read Receipts. When the checkbox is empty, read receipts are turned off.

That’s all it takes to disable iMessage read receipts on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
