44-year-old Leslie Sedgewick, of Aldergrove Drive in Middlesbrough, carried out the attack just days before Christmas, on Friday 20th December 2024.<br /><br />The woman, in her thirties was attacked from behind, punched and kicked to the floor and her mobile phone was stolen in the incident, which took place around 6:30am near to Marton Road.<br /><br />The woman managed to flee, having suffered facial injuries including chipped teeth, a suspected broken nose and bruising to her arm and wrist during the attack.<br /><br />Officers including the Dog Support Unit immediately attended the area in search of the suspect, who had fled the scene.<br /><br />A short time later, PC Lee Whitehouse, who was on duty with PD Kira, spotted a male matching the description, who attempted to run away. Footage below shows PD Kira who detained the man a short distance away, and he was arrested.
