About this video

Henry Thomas – Bull Doze Blues (1928)
Also known as "Going Up The Country"
This is the original recording of the legendary country blues song by Texas musician Henry "Ragtime Texas" Thomas.
Recorded on June 13, 1928 in Chicago, the song was originally titled "Bull Doze Blues".
In 1968, the band Canned Heat adapted the melody and the iconic quills (cane flute) sound, rewrote the lyrics into a peaceful back-to-the-country anthem, and released it as "Going Up The Country". Their version became a major hit and one of the anthems of the Woodstock generation.
That's why this video uses the more popular title — so that people searching for Canned Heat's version can discover this wonderful original from the 1920s.
A timeless piece of American blues history. Enjoy! 🎵
