Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Kerala as Mullaperiyar Dam Releases Water

The northeast monsoon has intensified across southern India, bringing devastation to Kerala and Tamil Nadu. On Sunday, October 19, the first casualty was reported in Kerala’s Idukki district.

Overnight rains triggered mudslides, inundated homes, and swept away vehicles. Roads turned into rivers, and communication lines were disrupted.
