This time, I took on one of my toughest cleans yet: a complete overhaul of a cramped New York City housing project apartment for a 64‑year‑old woman battling both mental and physical health challenges. When I arrived, cockroaches scurried across every surface, piles of dirty dishes and soiled laundry stacked corner to corner, and mold creeping up the walls. The smell was overwhelming—decades of neglect trapped in that small space. Step by step, I cleared out the infested trash bags, scrubbed down every cabinet and countertop, and treated the walls to eliminate pests. I replaced her bedding with fresh sheets, organized her remaining belongings so she could find what she needed, and set up a simple daily routine board to help her keep the apartment under control. By the end of the day, her home was transformed from a health hazard into a clean, welcoming sanctuary—one she can safely call her own again.
