Armed gunmen attacked three schools in Orire LGA, Oyo State, on Friday, killing L.A. Primary School’s assistant headmaster Joel Adesiyan and abducting the principal, five teachers, and several pupils.
The assailants targeted Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School around 9 a.m., firing sporadically as pupils arrived for classes. Residents said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and moved between schools within minutes.
The principal of Community Grammar School, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, was among those abducted. A motorcyclist was also killed in the crossfire. The attackers fled into a nearby forest with some victims in the principal’s vehicle, which was later abandoned and set ablaze.
The Oyo State Police Commissioner and military personnel have launched a search-and-rescue operation. The number of abducted pupils remains unclear as of Friday night. #shorts
