Great Comet 2026 Near Sun & Bright Comet Atlas 🌠
The 2026 comet is approaching the Sun closely, creating a rare solar system event. Comet Atlas is also very bright—see my photo!

About this video
rare solar system moment is unfolding.
The Great Comet of 2026 (C/2026 A1 MAPS) is diving toward an extremely close encounter with the Sun — so close that many sungrazing comets don’t survive the journey.
At the same time, Comet 3I ATLAS is brightening… and I captured a new image.
In this video, we explore what really happens when a comet plunges deep into the Sun’s corona, why most sungrazers don’t actually hit the Sun, and what astronomers will be watching during this dramatic solar encounter.
☀️ In this video you’ll learn:
☀️ How close the Great Comet of 2026 will pass to the Sun
☀️ Why sungrazing comets rarely “impact” the Sun
☀️ The key factor that determines survival vs. vaporization
☀️ How Kreutz family comets fragment near perihelion
☀️ Why Comet 3I ATLAS is brightening
☀️ What my latest image reveals
☄️ What is the Great Comet of 2026?
C/2026 A1 (MAPS) is a Kreutz sungrazer, likely a fragment from an ancient mega-comet that broke apart centuries ago. These comets follow nearly identical paths that take them dangerously close to the Sun.
Some disintegrate.
A few become legendary.
📸 New Image: Comet 3I ATLAS
I captured a new image showing the comet’s current brightness and structure. As activity increases, changes in the coma and tail can occur rapidly.
Stay tuned — this comet may continue evolving.
🌞 Why this solar encounter matters
NASA and ESA spacecraft have observed many sungrazing comets vaporizing in the Sun’s corona. These encounters help scientists understand:
• comet structure
• solar magnetic fields
• extreme heat & tidal forces
• solar wind interaction
If this comet survives, we may witness a dramatic post-perihelion appearance.
If it doesn’t, we may watch it fade within the Sun’s atmosphere.
Either way, this is a rare event.
