Cela commence comme un conte de fées : la charmante paysanne Giselle aime un jeune homme qui, sous ses habits de villageois, s’avère être un duc. Hélas ! Albrecht – c’est son nom – ne pourra l’épouser car il est déjà fiancé.

À cette découverte, Giselle sombre dans la folie puis la mort. Elle est alors recueillie par les Wilis, âmes des jeunes filles délaissées par un amant infidèle. Se vengera‑t-elle d’Albrecht en l’entraînant dans la mort ou fera‑t‑elle triompher l’amour et le pardon ?

It begins like a fairy tale: the charming peasant girl Giselle loves a young man who, beneath his rustic attire, turns out to be a duke. Alas! Albrecht – that is his name – cannot marry her because he is already engaged.

Discovering this, Giselle sinks into madness and death. She is taken in by the Wilis, the souls of young girls abandoned by unfaithful lovers. Will she take revenge on Albrecht by luring him to his death, or will love and forgiveness triumph?
