GCSE Maths - Understanding Rounding

Do you know what the golden rule of rounding numbers is? In this GCSE Maths lesson, you will learn about rounding facts and solve an example for better understanding.

Rounding is an essential maths concept that has many practical applications. The basic scheme of rounding states: numbers that are halfway or beyond are rounded up and the rest are rounded down. For example, to round 7.654 to 2-decimal places, we will first look at the third decimal place and see whether it's bigger or smaller than 5. It is 4 which is smaller than 5 so the digit at the second decimal place will remain the same. Hence, 7.654 rounded to 2-decimal places will be 7.65. This GCSE Maths lesson teaches new concepts and also helps you revise your Year 9 and other lower levelled rounding and estimation topics as well.
