Movie Plot:
Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947, the film follows Tara Singh, a Sikh truck driver who rescues Sakeena, a Muslim girl from an aristocratic family, during a communal riot. To protect her, he marks her forehead with his blood—symbolically marrying her in Sikh tradition.

The story flashes back to pre-Partition Lahore, where Tara and Sakeena first meet at college. Despite class differences, their bond deepens through music and mutual respect. After Partition, believing her family dead, Sakeena stays with Tara and they marry, raising a son named Jeete in Amritsar.

Years later, Sakeena discovers her family is alive in Pakistan. She travels to Lahore to reunite with them, but her father Ashraf Ali, now a powerful mayor, opposes her marriage and plans to wed her to a Muslim suitor. Tara, determined to bring her back, illegally crosses the border with Jeete and Darmiyaan.

After a dramatic confrontation, Ashraf Ali agrees to let them reunite—on the condition that Tara converts to Islam and settles in Pakistan. Tara accepts but refuses to denounce India, sparking a violent clash. The family flees, and Sakeena is shot during the escape. She survives, and Ashraf Ali, moved by their love, finally accepts Tara as his son-in-law.

The film ends with the family returning to India, united and triumphant. With its patriotic fervor, emotional intensity, and iconic dialogues, *Gadar* became one of the most-watched Indian films of all time.
