About this video
It's been officially confirmed that South Africans will pay more for petrol in February. The department of energy has announced that the price at the pumps will go up by 29 cents which represents a rise of 2 percent. Diesel will climb by 21 cents a litre. International oil prices have climbed since a deal by the oil cartel OPEC. But the AA says the hike could have been worse, if the rand had not strengthened in the last month. The new prices will come into effect next Wednesday.
