Flying car soars over traffic in 'world first'

A £236k flying car has demonstrated its ability to soar over traffic in a world first.<br /><br />Californian firm Alef Aeronautics claims to have conducted the first-ever test of a car driving and then vertically taking off in a city.<br /><br />The ultralight version of their Alef Model Zero flew over a vehicle in a controlled environment to simulate an emergency traffic situation.<br /><br />CEO Jim Dukhovny compared the test to the Wright Brothers’ Kitty Hawk moment, calling it proof of new transportation possibilities.<br /><br />Alef reports 3,330 pre-orders for the electric flying car, which has a 200-mile road range and 110-mile flight capability.
