FIFA has announced that they will be endorsing a new ASEAN Championship that will bear similarities with the FIFA Arab Cup. The confusing part? There's already an ASEAN Championship! So why is it important that FIFA is sponsoring this new addition? Well, it's because of FIFA's International Calendar, a system that has all the dates when players are permitted to play for their country. A FIFA sanctioned tournament gets its own space there meaning more players can take part in the tournament. But what are the cons? A reformatted structure and the pursuit of money... Typical FIFA.
