Discover Ji Meng: The Dragon-Headed Rain Deity from Ancient Mythology 🌧️

Ji Meng is a deity mentioned in the "Shan Hai Jing," known as the God of Rain or Rain Master. He possesses a human body with a dragon's head and has the power to summon wind and rain, always accompanied by fierce storms wherever he goes. This description closely aligns with later myths of the Dragon King, suggesting that Ji Meng may have been the prototype for this revered figure.

Ji Meng resides on a mountain called Guang Shan and often frolics in the waters of Zhang Yuan. He also appears in the legendary battle between Gong Gong and Emperor Zhuanxu, where he fought alongside Emperor Zhuanxu, contributing to the defeat of Gong Gong.

In the "Classic of Mountains and Seas • Middle Volume Eight," it is recorded:

"Another 130 li to the east lies Mount Guang. Its summit is abundant with green jade, and its base is rich in forests. The deity Ji Meng dwells here, appearing with a human body and a dragon's head. He frequently roams in the Zhang Yuan, and his comings and goings are always accompanied by gusty winds and violent storms."
