Epstein Files: DOJ Releases 3M Pages of Documents 📁

About this video

The Justice Department says it's releasing 3 million pages of documents in the latest Jeffrey Epstein disclosure, along with 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.

The documents were disclosed Friday under a law intended to reveal what the government knew about the millionaire financier’s sexual abuse of young girls and his interactions with the rich and powerful.

Associated Press reporter Michael Sisak explains initial takeaways from the Department’s documents release.

“Among the things we're seeing as we comb through these records are files from court proceedings and investigations into Epstein and Maxwell, correspondence that he had with friends and associates, and we're seeing photographs and videos in which some faces are blacked out, redacted,” Sisak said.

The files include some of the several million pages of records officials said were withheld from an initial release of documents in December.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said hundreds of department attorneys have been reviewing files to black out material that could reveal the identities of victims.

“He pushed back at criticism that the Justice Department had missed the deadline, the December 19th deadline, to disclose all of these files. He said it took a lot of time, painstaking effort to make sure this was done properly,” Sisak said.

Blanche also pushed away criticism that the Justice Department was trying to protect President Donald Trump.

“He said no one is here to protect Trump,” Sisak said.

Epstein killed himself in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial.
