Both protagonists become deadlocked on their next course of action, and Steng seizes that moment to swipe the book, rendering them powerless. He affirms that someone instructed him to kidnap Seitaro, with Baltro carrying out the deed, yet denies entering the office, leading Kiyo to suspect that the confrontation is a setup. Baltro prepares to trample them underfoot but is interrupted when Kory, having overcome his fear, steals the spellbook back from Steng and gives it to Kiyo after leading the enemies' attacks astray. Zatch and Kiyo turn the tables and destroy Baltro's armor, exposing the little Mamodo inside, while Folgore and Kanchome also free themselves. However, Steng casts one more of Baltro's spells to demolish the castle before they go on the run, leaving Zatch and the others for dead. In the chaos, the abductees evacuate, and Kiyo reunites with his father before he and Zatch join Kory in searching for his parents in the cellar. The castle collapses, but they survive having safely extracted the boy's family.
