Ep 079: Basic CPU Architecture and Instruction Execution

Assembly language exhilarates some while striking terror in the hearts of others. Don't worry, though, we're only introducing it here to show how the CPU executes an instruction. This will bring us to the top of the memory hierarchy: the processor registers.

• identify the components of a CPU,
• identify the components of an assembly language instruction, and
• describe the steps used in the execution of an instruction.
