Subject is the role of the Left Party during the era of East Germany. From 1949–1990, Germany was separated into West Germany and East Germany. In German, the two separated states were called the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD) and the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR). In East German, you were only allowed to vote for one party, the Left Party, which is why 90% popularity. Also nobody was allowed to get out of the DDR except for vacationing in Countries that the USSR allowed and that was rare, too.
