If your iPhone screenâs blasting your eyes in the dark or looking super dim out in the sun, thatâs probably âcause Auto-Brightness is off; Weâre gonna flip that switch on your iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, or the new iPhone Air right here;
Alright, grab your iPhone and head to the Settings app;
Scroll down a bit till you see Accessibility and tap it;
Now tap Display & Text Size;
Slide all the way down to the bottom and boom, thereâs Auto-Brightness;
Go ahead and turn that switch ON; Wow, thatâs it â your screenâs now gonna adjust itself based on the light around you;
Okay, letâs break down a few quick troubleshooting tips in case Auto-Brightness still acts up;
First, make sure True Tone is turned on under Settings app, scroll to Display & Brightness; True Tone works hand-in-hand with Auto-Brightness so your display always looks natural;
Second, check the top sensor near the Dynamic Island; If youâve got a dusty screen protector or something covering it, the sensor canât really make out the lighting right, so clean it up;
Third, if that brightness sliderâs stuck or not moving at all, you gotta reset your settings; Head to Settings app on iPhone, Scroll to General, Again scroll to last option Transfer or Reset iPhone, Select Reset, Now, Select Reset All Settings; Donât stress, it wonât wipe your photos or stuff â just your Wi-Fi passwords, wallpaper, and display preferences;
And finally, make sure your iPhoneâs already on the latest iOS 26 update âcause Auto-Brightness relies on those system-level tweaks to work smooth;
Thatâs all you gotta do to keep your display bright outdoors and chill in the dark; Go ahead and try it out â your eyes are gonna thank you later;
