Employees Are Resentful About , Return to Office Mandates, , Survey Finds.<br />'Fortune' reports that many organizations are <br />abandoning remote work in favor of returning <br />to the office full-time or introducing hybrid <br />models with part-time in-office hours. .<br />According to a recent survey by <br />BetterUp, the number of primarily <br />remote roles has been cut in half.<br />The survey found that one out of four organizations <br />cited improved connection and culture as the <br />reasoning behind mandating a return to the office.<br />However, another survey by 'Fortune' <br />found that returning to the office often <br />causes a major disruption to people's routines, <br />their work and overall experience of life. .<br />A survey of 1,400 full-time U.S. employees <br />found that those who were mandated <br />to return to the office had higher levels of burnout, <br />stress and desire to seek employment elsewhere.<br />Mandated return-to-office orders also were found <br />to result in lower trust in the organization, reduced <br />engagement and declines in productivity levels.<br />'Fortune' found that the most <br />challenging aspect of returning to the <br />office for most people was the commute.<br />This falls in line with research that <br />suggests commutes of just 30 minutes <br />have been linked with higher stress and anger. .<br />Commutes of 45 minutes or longer <br />have been linked to reduced overall <br />well-being, mood and health.<br />The second-most challenging aspect of returning to <br />work was found to be the loss of flexibility to accomplish <br />home tasks, like doing laundry, while also working.
